The Ghana Police Service has interdicted two female officers, captured in a video, acting in contrast with the police professional code of ethics. They were captured taking GHC10 bribe in the said video.
The interdicted corps are Inspector Martha Ackah and Sergeant Felicia Ocran, both at the Asokwa Divisional Command of the Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate (MTTD).
According to a press Statement by the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, “The officers have been interdicted to allow for a thorough investigation into the case, in line with Police internal disciplinary procedures after which they will be prosecuted.”
The officers were found in a secretly filmed video, which has since gone viral, taking a bribe of GH¢10 from a driver.
One of them was heard to have said she has spared the driver.
“We would like to urge the affected victims to come forward and support police investigations to enable us take the officers through the due process of the law as we seek to ensure that our officers uphold the highest form of professional standards,” It said.
What The Police Fail To Do On Our Roads Of late…
Nowadays, the act of the police at the various security check points across the country, taking bribes as lower as ghc5; and allowing all manner of wrongs on the roads has become a norm.
It is a very dangerous attitude which has gradually taken seat in the country’s Security fraternity, specifically the police at large.
There are no shocks that in recent times Ghana who happens to be one of the most peaceful, harmonious and stable country in Africa is fast becoming a city of kidnappers, frausters, murderers and a comfort zone for all sorts of criminals.
It is high time the Police administration stopped the few persons in the service whose ambitions are to amass wealth dubiously.
