A census taker began ‘yobbing’ all the new girls whose information he had entered, according to a radio host (watch)

A Hitz FM radio presenter, has uncovered Census workers who use the private information they enter into their database, such as phone numbers, to track down new girls.

In the studios of the Accra-based radio station, a visibly enraged Manucho could be seen voicing his displeasure at how these men had exploited the nature of the profession to prey on vulnerable women, including those who are clearly underage.

The Ghana Statistical Service began conducting the 2021 Population and Housing Census on June 27, 2021. (GSS).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the census was originally slated for 2020 but had to be rescheduled. Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Vice-President, inaugurated a countdown to the census, branded “100 days to 2021 Population and Housing Census,” ahead of the event.

The census countdown is a set of activities that the GSS will launch over the next 100 days to raise public awareness about the census.
