Farmers’ Day: Ghana Gas Backs Farmers In Nine MMDAs With GH¢180,000

The Ghana National Gas Company has given nine Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Western Region an amount of GH¢180,000 in support of the assemblies’ local celebration of this year’s Farmers’ Day, slated to take place December 3.
The beneficiaries, each received a total sum of GH¢ 20,000.00. They fall within the operational spheres of the gas processing company.
Sekondi-Takoradi, Effia-Kwesimintsim, Shama, Ellembelle, Jomoro, Nzema East, Ahanta West, Mporhor, and Prestea-Huni-Valley were the lucky MMDAs.
The Senior Manager, Community Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for Ghana Gas, Mr. Stephen Donkor, handed over the cash to the Assemblies at a brief ceremony held at A.B Bokazo in the Ellembelle district.

Stephen said the donation was the company’s contribution to motivate hardworking farmers.
He reiterated on Ghana Gas’ readiness to engaging various assemblies to churn means of giving facelift to the agric sector in their respective areas.
The senior manager explained, For instance when it comes to planting for food and jobs, the company wants to engage the assemblies to know the kind of support it could offer to make the policy very successful.
Now the Minister of Agriculture is sending foodstuffs to the ministry and other areas for people to go there to buy. So we want to know as an organization what can we do to support this initiative.
He noted Ghana Gas would want to do something monumental that would benefit the people even till when oil production in the region would be no more.
On behalf of the Chief Executives of the nine districts, Kwasi Bonzoh, DCE for Ellembelle lauded the gas processing company for their consistent aids to the areas.
He was confident the donation will go a long way to cushion the assemblies to motivate hardworking farmers in their respective areas.
He assured Ghana Gas the chief executives would let the farmers know the kind of support the gas company offered them, during the celebration.
Kwasi Bonzoh noted the Ellembelle District Assembly will reward 22 farmers in various kinds at the 38th Farmer’s Day celebration Friday, December 3 2022.
