Gold Fields Ghana Foundation Graduates Second Batch of Trainees in Graduate Training Programme
The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation’s Graduate Training Programme continues to make a significant impact in equipping young graduates from host communities with essential skills for the mining industry.
The successful graduation of the second batch of 124 trainees highlights the program’s commitment to fostering employability among the youth.
The two-year hands-on training provided the graduates with valuable experience by rotating them across various departments, enabling them to acquire practical skills relevant to their chosen careers. Throughout their training, the graduates not only developed their technical competencies but also had the opportunity to contribute innovative ideas to enhance Gold Fields Ghana’s systems and processes.
Since its inception in 2018, the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation Graduate Training Programme has engaged 171 university graduates from the host communities of the Tarkwa and Damang mines. This initiative demonstrates Gold Fields Ghana’s dedication to local skills development and empowerment within its operational areas.
The Foundation’s investment of US$2.3 million in the program underscores its integral role in the overall host community skills development strategy. By providing young graduates with comprehensive training and exposure to the mining industry, the program aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, preparing them for meaningful careers in the sector.
The successful graduation of the second batch of trainees is a testament to the program’s effectiveness in nurturing talent and fostering employability. The graduates are now equipped with the necessary skills and experience to contribute to the mining industry’s growth and development.
