IGP embarks on a Two-Day Visit to the Volta Region

Police Administration continued the Community Engagement Policing Strategy when the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and some members of the Police Management Board-POMAB, on Thursday, November 18, 2021, embarked on a two-day visit to the Volta Region.

On the first day, the IGP and his team visited various communities and interacted with the Chiefs, Police officers and community members. Towns visited include: Battor, Dove Junction, Sogakope, Akatsi, Dabala, Anloga, Keta Agbozume, Aflao, Denu, Tokor, Dzodze, Ave-Dakpa and Kpetoe.

The IGP and his team also took the opportunity during the first day of the tour to commiserate with the family of the late Etornam Avulekpor, alias Young Moni, who died during a Police swoop earlier this month at Akatsi.

On the second day, the IGP joined the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Yao Archibald Letsa, to officially open the 5th Volta Investment Fair 2021 Young Entrepreneurs Breakfast Meeting held at Ho.

Later in the day, the team visited and interacted with chiefs, and Police personnel at Ho, Abutia, Anyirawase, Hlefi, Dzolo-Kpuita, Golokwati, Hohoe, Alavanyo, Kpando, Anfoega, Have, Kpeve, and Juapong.

As part of the Administration’s keen interest in the welfare of personnel, the team used the opportunity to visit 13 Police officers who have been unwell for sometime at their various places of abode.

The team also interacted with four operational law enforcement taskforce teams at Aveyime, Golokwati, Alavanyo and Juapong.

During the tour, the IGP and his team urged Police officers to be professional in the discharge of their duties and assured them of the Police Administration’s backing as long as they did what was right. To the Chiefs and community members, the IGP entreated them to continue to support the Police Service in its quest to ensure the safety and security of all.

He indicated that the Service was on a journey to move away from its past and work towards becoming a more responsive and respected institution.

He added that the Service was determined to provide a demand-driven policing, tailored towards the peculiar needs of specific communities.

The IGP was accompanied by the Director-General (DG) National Patrol and Visibility Department, COP Paul Manly Awini; DG/Welfare, DCOP/Mrs. Habiba Twumasi Sarpong, the Volta Regional Police Commander DCOP/Edward Oduro Kwarteng, and the Director of Operations, ACP Akwasi Annor Arhin and other Senior Police officers.
