Keep Calm Over Earth Tremor…

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has told Ghanaians to keep calm amidst the double earth tremors experienced in part of Accra, Monday, December 12, 2022.
According to the disaster management body, the earth tremors were not devastating as no cases of loss of lives or properties have been recorded.
NADMO therefore, has called on all citizens to go about their normal duties without any fear.
Director-General for NADMO, Mr Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh in a statement yesterday, urged, “Homeowners in affected areas are encouraged to inspect their buildings for possible cracks and seek technical advice from Engineers and other building experts
“The public will be duly informed of any development.”
The statement cautioned the public to be selective on the kinds of information shared on social media “in order to be safe and go about our duties without fear and needless panic”.
It stated NADMO is collaborating with the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) to obtain the exact details of Monday’s tremors, particularly its magnitude and epicenter.
It is therefore significant authorities such as Town Planning Committees at the various Metropolitan, Municipal, District Assemblies nationwide, to step up their game in gag the public against building at earthquake prone areas.
