The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN,has alleged fresh attacks and killing of a Fulani pastoralist and some cattle in Atyap Kataf Chiefdom of Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Fulani cattle rearers’ association which named the victim as 22-year old Ado Hassan Fada, described the act which it claimed, happened yesterday as unprovoked and senseless.

The group in a statement by Ibrahim Bayero Zango, its Director,Media and Publicity in Kaduna State, alleged that the victim was shot dead while grazing his cattle in the area.

It,however, thanked Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) the special military task force set up to enforce peace in the area for the prompt response of its men to the troubled area and the evacuation of the remains of the victim as well as arrest of suspects.

“We write to sadly report the unfortunate, unprovoked and senseless killing of an innocent pastoralist ,Ado Hassan Fada,22 years by some suspected Atytap criminals today, being January 3,2021,” it said in the statement.

The group claimed that,”Information available to us disclosed that some Kataf militias came in large numbers in search of any herders in sight”, adding that:” Unfortunately, they met the deceased while grazing, they shot at him and he died instantly. ”

The Kataf militia also last Friday, on New Year Day, have poisoned some cattle belonging to one Fada at Magamiya Village and killed two of his cows,” the group further said.

MACBAN further alleged that:”The Kataf militias are presently using some poisoned substance and inject it in to oranges and keep the oranges where the cattle are grazing.”

“Immediately a cow eats the orange and drinks water, the poison kills the cow instantly,” it explained.

“We condole the family of the deceased and pray to Almighty Allah to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss,” it said.

“We are appealing to the security agencies in the area to fish out the killers and those who are poisoning the Fulani pastoralists’ cattles and prosecute them,” it said.

” We appreciate the timely response by the military outfit; Operation Safe Haven who responded swiftly, moved into the area and evacuated the remains of the killed pastoralist and also made two useful arrests,” the statement said, adding: ” We enjoin all our members to be calm and allow authority to do its work.”
