Mustapha Yakubu scores quadruple as Heart of Lions continue impressive form in the Access Bank Division One League

Heart of Lions FC maintained their impressive form in the 2022/23 season of the Access Bank Division One League with a resounding 5-1 victory over Golden Kicks at the Tema Park on Sunday.

Mustapha Yakubu was the star of the show, scoring four goals to take his season tally to ten goals in six matches. The Kpando-based club shot into the lead in the eighth minute through Yakubu’s goal. The forward then doubled their lead in the 41st minute with his second goal of the match.

After the break, Golden Kicks fought back and were able to pull one back in the 63rd minute through Ezekiel Nettey. However, Benjamin Bentum put the game beyond their reach with goals in the 76th and 85th minutes to complete his hat-trick.

For the most part of the season, Heart of Lions have been phenomenal in the Access Bank Division One League campaign. They are now the team to beat in Zone Three as they continue to rack up points for promotion to the Premier League next season.

In other games played in Zone Three, Attram De Visser secured a 2-0 victory over Vision FC at the Tema Park. Richmond Apokum opened the scoring in the 80th minute, before Collins Asamoah sealed the win with a second goal in the 94th minute.
