Sulley Muntari Officially Confirms His Retirement From Football

Ex-Blackstars midfielder Sulley Muntari announces retirement from active football after about 25 years of a successful career.

The former Inter Millan player announced his decision on Monday at Sky Sports.
“I just did a few months with the local side [Hearts of Oak]. My son wanted me to play. I didn’t play for almost three years, then my son decided to ask me to go and play. I did that, but now I’m done.” Muntari said to Sky Sports on Monday.

Sulley Muntari was part of the squad that led the Black Stars to their first ever World Cup tournament in 2006 in Germany and was also part of the team that qualified for the first time to the quarter final of the World Cup in South Africa 2010.

He played for some of the big clubs in Europe including Inter Millan, Portsmouth FC ,AC Milan, Udinese, Sunderland, Deportivo La Coruna and he recently played for Accra Hearts of Oak in Ghana.
He also won one UEFA champions league with inter Millan in 2009, one UEFA super Cup in 2010, one FIFA club World Cup in 2010, two Seria A titles in 2008 and 2010, one FA cup in 2008, two Coppa Italia Cups in 2009 and 2011 and two FA Cups with Accra Hearts of Oak from 2020 to 2022.
