TOKYO OLYMPICS: Boxer Samuel Takyi Wins Ghana’s First Olympic Medal Since 1992

Ghanaian amateur boxer, Samuel Takyi has won a bronze medal at the ongoing 2020 Olympics at Japan after beating Columbian boxer Ceiber David Avila Segura.

He was born on 23rd December 2000.

Takyi defeated the Comlombian’s 32-year-old boxer in the quarter finals, winning the bronze medal making history in Ghana.

Ghanaians join in celebrating the hero for bringing yet another medal for the first time in a long time.

The 20 year old boxer in his early stage, liked football but boxing suddenly over took his ” young age dream” which compelled him to improve his skills at the Boxing Discipline Academy,Accra.

He defeated Mohammed Hamout of Morocco at the 2020 African Olympic boxing in Senegal, Dakar.

Takyi took to his feet to defeat Isaac Masembe of Uganda after losing to Everisto Mulenga in the semi finals.

The celebration will certainly get louder as he moves on to his next fight with USA’s Ragan Duke for a gold medal on Tuesday, August 3 2021.
