Traders surprised as 10 fire tenders take 4hrs to fight Makola fire

According to the officers on duty, the hydrants in the tenders did not have the requisite pressure to get to the burning three-storey building.
The first fire tender which got to the scene had to return as a result of lack of water.
Eye witnesses say the fire would have been easily put out if that first fire tender had high-pressure hydrant.
It took nine tenders from near-by stations to bring the inferno under control.

Fire officers, who were called in to fight the inferno, made sure the fire did not spread to other facilities.
It took an additional fire tender from the University of Ghana, aside the nine from other stations of the Ghana National Fire Service, to douse the flames.
