Vodafone Ghana Foundation: A Corporative That Positively Impacts

The Vodafone Ghana Foundation is a philanthropic establishment founded in 2009 by Vodafone Ghana to separately drive the corporate social responsibility of the telecommunications giant.

The foundation has since then been dedicated to supporting communities in Ghana by organising charitable projects designed to address prevalent socio-economic challenges which trouble these communities.

The Vodafone Ghana foundation however, conducts its humanitarian services to achieve a particular set of sustainable development goals outlined by the United Nations Organization and they are

  • To end poverty in all its forms everywhere
  • To ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
  • To ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
  • To achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
  • To promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
  • To reduce inequality within and among countries
  • To promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive
  • To strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development

It is worthy to note that, the Vodafone Ghana Foundation has since its inception touched over 4 million lives,  conducted over 40 projects and impacted about 1,500 communities through its Healthline, Instant Schools and Charitable Donations.

Vodafone Ghana Foundation – Instant Schools

The Instant Schools which operate under the auspices of the Vodafone Ghana Foundation provides millions of people with free access to online learning materials.

The scheme works in conjunction with local authorities like the Ministry of Education to provide access to essential educational resources, including subjects such as Maths and Science from primary to the secondary level.

The services provided by the scheme which includes Junior High School (JHS) past questions from 1990,  is FREE for all Vodafone Ghana subscribers.

Vodafone Ghana Foundations’ Healthline Programme

Healthline has over the past decade contributed significantly to promoting a healthy living as experts from various medical fields take turns to educate viewers and debunk health myths as well as educate Ghanaians on pertinent health-related issues and encourage healthy lifestyle practices among the Ghanaian population.

The Healthline scheme features a television show covers various topics such as bones, tumour, cancer, pregnancy, mental health, hypertension, diabetes and sex . The scheme additionally offers life-saving surgeries to deprived patients across the country with critical medical conditions, by fully sponsoring the cost of surgery and treatment.

Vodafone Ghana Foundation – Charitable Activities

The Vodafone Ghana Foundation through its charitable activities have supported 100 girls with high academic grades but low financial/economic resources to study Maths, Science and Technology courses in Senior High Schools in Ghana and 10 females to study at the University of Education Winneba.
